Heaven by Bryan Adams
Oh - thinking about all our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free
Now nothing can take you away from me
We've been down that road before
But that's over now
You keep me coming back for more
*Chorus:
Baby you're all that I want
When you're lying here in my arms
I'm finding it hard to believe
We're in heaven
And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven
Oh - once in your life you find someone
Who will turn your world around
Bring you up when you're feeling down
Yeah nothing could change what you mean to me
Oh there's lots that I could say
But just hold me now
Cause our love will light the way
*Chorus*
I've been waiting for so long
For something to arrive
For love to come along
Now our dreams are coming true
Through the good times and the bad
I'll be standing there by you
*chorus*oh no..oh no..we're in heaven..

Only 28 More Days!!!
So I am getting REALLY excited for my trip to New York City & Philadelphia!! By next week I will probably start losing sleep because I am so excited! Since I am so excited I am posting a blog about my trip plans so far!
See the brown-ish building right in the middle of this picture?? That is the Crowne Plaza Times Square! That is where we are staying!! And see all the people & stuff below it...that's Times Square!! THE TIMES SQUARE!!

Look at this picture. Yes, that is Al Roker! Well Matt & I are going to be one of those crazy people who are in the crowd! Watch the Today Show on Friday, March 27th & look for us!!

Picture numero tres! This is Madison Square Garden! Home of the New York Knicks! Matt & I will be there Friday night to watch the Knicks game!!
Saturday night we are going to the Winter Garden Theatre (see below!) to see Mamma Mia! This theatre was also the home of the longest running show on broadway, Cats!

This is what it looks like on the inside!! Beautiful!!

And the last picture. Ground Zero. This is where we are going on Sunday. I know that there isn't really much to see here but I'm a history person & this is, I think, the biggest thing to happen to the country in my life time (or at least what I remember). This is like the JFK assassination for my generation. I can't wait to be there.

Please Remember
I can't believe that is has been 6 years. It feels like it was just yesterday that she was taken from us all too soon. Even though we weren't extremely close she was the one person that I looked up to more than anyone else. I wanted to be just like her. She was so sociable and pretty and she was nice to everyone! The thing that I remember most was her contagious smile. It was beautiful. Our superintendent described it best in an article in the school newspaper. He said, "[Elyse's] smile was as bold and beautiful as the sunshine on the morning of her death."
I don't think I have been as sad as I was since the day of the accident. It is definitely in the top 3 worst days of my life. And it sucks that the first funeral I had ever been to had to the funeral of a 16-year-old classmate. I have never seen the gymnasium that full of people. I think there were over 1,000 people there. That show how many people she touched in some way. But I know now that we can find comfort in knowing that she is still with all of us today and that we will see her again soon.
Here is a poem that I wrote that day after school:

Gone
To: Elyse
She touched our heartsIn so many ways
But now that she's gone
We just cannot say
How much we will miss her
And we'll think of her each day
It's just not sinking in
That she is gone for good
It all feels like a bad, bad dream
If we could change that past we would
But God took her to heaven
To live for ever with him there
And she will always watch over us
And she will always care

25 Things About ME!!
This was going around facebook so I thought since I spent probably like 2 hours filling it out that I would put it on here too! Enjoy!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.
(If you don't feel like keeping this going, that's okay, it is just for fun, so no worries.)
1. I am a horrible procrastinator! I pretty much always put things off until the very last minute! That is definitely something that I need to work on.
2. I have met John Mayer! And seen him in concert twice (and I go see him again in a heartbeat)! I've also seen Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Sara Bareilles & Neil Diamond. I am really hoping to add Billy Joel & Elton John to the list in May! And hopefully someday in the future I will get to see George Strait in concert!
3. I am planning on doing my 5th (and hopefully final) year of college at University of Nebraska-Omaha. I am really excited for a change of scenery. The whole small town thing is making me really restless.
4. I am getting my bachelors degree in History. I would really love to go to grad school but unless I get my GPA up in the next year and a half or so I don't think that it is an option for me anymore. :(
5. Please don't ask me what I am going to do with my history degree because I don't know. Just thinking about it makes me nervous...so please....don't ask me.
6. I am addicted to the Travel channel! I espeically LOVE to watch Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern!
7. I absolutely LOVE music! Any music! Well...almost...I don't really care too much for rap. Unless it has a good beat to dance to. I lovelovelove classic rock! Journey, Queen, AC/DC, Boston, & The Beatles are a few of my favorites. I also love George Strait, Taylor Swift, Sara Bareilles, Colbie Callait, and much much more!
8. I work at HyVee. I have for about 3 and a half years. I count all the money in the store...or at least most of it. And every night I fear getting a disease from the money. It's got to be the dirtiest stuff ever!!
9. I am going to New York City & Philadelphia for the first time in March! I CANNOT WAIT!!! I have always dreamed of going to NYC and I honestly don't think that I am going to want to come home. If I really love it out there I am thinking about moving to the east coast after I am done with school.
10. On a regular basis I get the urge to just pack a bag and run away. Not forever but just for a little while. I just want to drive to somewhere I've never been. Where no one knows me. Someday I will do it.
11. I am a sunday school teacher at my church. I was only supposed to teach preschool & kindergarteners but they didn't have a teacher for 2 & 3 year olds so I teach them all! Somedays it is really fun, other days just reinforce the reason as to why I will never be a teacher!
12. My iPod is pretty much one of my body parts. I am almost never without it! If it ever broke I would probably cry...honestly.
13. I can pretty much recite the Austin Powers movies. Also Mean Girls. So if you hate when people recite movies...don't watch those with me.
14. I have 2 younger sisters, Samantha who is 20 and Abigail who is 18. I also have a 7 year old half-brother named Jonathan.
15. My favorite season is summer! I absolutely love it! I don't care that it gets hot & humid. I'd take that over snow & sub-zero wind chills any day!
16. I have an amazing boyfriend named Matt, or Matt-hew as I like to call him! =] We have been together for 9 months and still going strong!! He is probably the best thing to happen to me!
17. I love the Kansas City Chiefs! Matt & I went to 2 games this year and it they were probably one of the most fun things ever! And now that Herm is fired we are hoping they actually win some games!
18. I love to listen to people play the piano. I REALLY wish that I knew how to play. And I am insanely jealous of everyone who can.
19. There are about a million places that I want to visit before I die. I'd list them all but I'd be typing for a day. Seriously. The list is THAT long.
20. My grandparents (on my mom's side) are never going to die. They are immortal. Or at least that's what I'd like to think. But seriously...if/when they do die I will be inconsoleable for at least a week. I can't imagine my life without them...
21. I love going to bars. That makes me sound like a drunk but I'm not. I just love the atmosphere.
22. I have the bestest parents in the world. No joke. I voted and they won.
23. I am addicted to reading Cosmopolitan and People magazines. They are one of my many guilty pleasures!
24. I am generally not a picky eater. I pretty much just love food in general. I do, however, HATE sour kraut. Good thing I am only like half German.
25. I lovelovelove musicals! One of my all-time favorites is Across the Universe because it is not only amazing but it is also all Beatles music! I am also a HUGE fan of Judy Garland. Oh, and I am going to my first Broadway musical when I am in NYC in March!

Only 65 More Days!!!
Start spreading the news, I’m leaving today
I wanna be a part of it, New York, New York.
These vagabond shoes are longing to stray
and step around the heart of it, New York, New York
I wanna wake up in the city, that doesn’t sleep,
to find I’m king of the hill, top of the heap.
My little town blues are melting away
I’ll make a brand new start of it, in old New York
if I can make it there, I’d make it anywhere
it’s up to you, New York, New York
New York, New York
I wanna wake up, in the city that doesn’t sleep,
to find I’m king of the hill, head of the list
cream of the crop at the top of the heap
My little town blues are melting away
I’ll make a brand new start of it, in old New York
if I can make it there, I’d make it anywhere
come on, come through New York, New York

In all the world, you'll never find a love as true as mine.
Matt & I have officially been together 8 months! Two-thirds of a year! Only 4 more months until a year! It feels absolutely right!!
Now, to satisfy my lovey-dovey, mushy-gushy feelings, here are some excerpts from a few of my favorite lovey-dovey, mushy-gushy songs!
Now, to satisfy my lovey-dovey, mushy-gushy feelings, here are some excerpts from a few of my favorite lovey-dovey, mushy-gushy songs!
It's like like jumping. It's like leaping. It's like walking on the ceiling. It's like floating. It's like flying through the air. It's like soaring. It's like gliding. It's a rocket ship you're riding. It's a feeling that can take you anywhere. So why they calling it falling, I don't know. (Why They Call it Falling by Lee Ann Womack)
I don't wanna miss one smile. I don't wanna miss one kiss. I just be with you, right here with you, just like this. I just wanna hold you close, feel your heart so close to mine and just stay here in this moment for all the rest of time. ( I Don't Want to Miss a Thing by Aerosmith)
If every word I said could make you laugh, I'd talk forever. I asked the sky just what we had, Hmm It shone forever. If the song I sing to you would fill your heart with joy, I'd sing forever. I've been so happy loving you. Let the love I have for you live in your heart and beat forever. (Forever by The Beach Boys)
I don't get many things right the first time, in fact, I am told that a lot. Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls, brought me here. Where was I before the day I first saw your lovely face? Now I see it every day. Now I know that I am the luckiest. (The Luckiest by Ben Folds)
Lost in this moment with you, I am completely consumed. My feelings so absolute, there's no doubt. Sealing our love with a kiss, waited my whole life for this, watching all my dreams come true, lost in this moment with you. (Lost in This Moment by Big & Rich)
Like a river flows surely to the sea, darling, so it goes, somethings are meant to be. Take my hand. Take my whole life, too. For I can't help falling in love with you. (Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley)
You will always be the miracle that makes my life complete. And as long as there's a breath in me, I'll make yours just as sweet. As we look into the future, It's as far as we can see. So let's make each tomorrow be the best that it can be.
I cross my heart and promise to give all I've got to give to make all your dreams come true. In all the world you'll never find a love as true as mine. (I Cross My Heart by George Strait)
Looking in your eyes, seeing all I need. Everything in you is everything to me. These are the moments I know heaven must exist. These are the moments I know all I need is this. I've found all I've waited for and I could not ask for more. (I Could Not Ask For More by Sara Evans)
You're the reason I believe in love and you're the answer to my prayers from up above. All we need is just the two of us. My dreams came true because of you.
From this moment, as long as I live, I will love you, I promise you this. There is nothing I wouldn't give, from this moment on. (From This Moment On by Shania Twain)

Straight No Chaser - 12 Days of Christmas
This is a group called Straight No Chaser. You may or may not have heard this song on the radio (if you listen to the Christmas station! lol) but I love it so I am posting a video! They are so amazingly good and funny, too!!

It's easy get through when somebody loves you the way I love you
When your heart is all alone every second
Seems so long
When it's just you, you can't see through
Those ol' clouds that rain so blue
But when somebody loves you
There's nothing you can't do
When somebody loves you
It's easy to get through
When somebody loves you
The way I love you
When it's late, the sun hangs low
By yourself, nowhere to go
Sing a song, you dance alone
Play solitaire and stare at the phone
But when somebody loves you
There's nothing you can't do
When somebody loves you
It's easy to get through
When somebody loves you
The way I love you
So let's put aside our foolish pride
And let our hearts say hello
We both agree we're just no good
At bein' on our own
'Cause when somebody loves you
There's nothing you can't do
When somebody loves you
It's easy to get through
When somebody loves you
The way I love you
The way I love you
The way I love you
